The Ronde du Ventoux Optic 2ooo: the hill climb according to Peter Auto

Once again, the third edition of the Ronde du Ventoux Optic 2ooo put on an incredible show for the many competitors and spectators which came to either participate or watch the five climbs of the Mont Chauve.

With perfect weather conditions, the 80 entered competitors were not disappointed. The retrospective is definitely worthy of the Mont Ventoux Hill Climb race’s reputation; and the rally, with pleasant meals gathering all the participants, kept its promises. They would all have liked to cover once more the loop of nearly 50 kilometres including, as a special stage, the 16 kilometres which link the Saint Estève bend to the Mont Chauve summit passing by the downhill drive towards Bédoin via Malaucène!

Conviviality didn’t exclude the spirit of competition and the participants played at "Who wants to be the winner of the Provence Giant". Finally, after five loops, Romain Rocher with his Porsche 960 imposes himself in front of the two Porsche 910 of Jacques Cochin and François Perrodo.
In VHC, Dominique Guenat and his AC Cobra made life hard in Mason-Styrron (Ford GT40) and d’Abel de Libran (Jaguar MkII).
In the G category, Robert and Pierre Malaviolle (Chevrolet Camaro) are on the first stef of the podium. Romain Rocher win the H category.
In the regularity category, Christian Baud called the tune in front of his pursuants Philippe Cleon (Porsche 914) and Neil Mc Mahon (Aston Martin DB4). To be noted, the performance of Albert Otten, Yves Junne and the crew Jean-Pierre and Christine Cathiard positionned respectively on the first, second and third place.
